AI quality and cost improvement

AI quality and cost improvement makes an existing AI system more reliable and cheaper to run per task. I set a quality and cost baseline, trace how results are produced, and improve model choice, retrieval, prompts and review without reducing quality.

Is this right for you?

Who this is for, and who it isn't.

A good fit if

  • Your AI feature gives inconsistent results and you cannot measure how often
  • AI costs are rising faster than usage or revenue
  • Nobody can explain why the AI produced a particular output

Probably not the right fit if

  • You do not yet have an AI system in use: see AI features and automation
  • The concern is company-wide AI tool spending rather than one system: see the AI Spend & Investment Review
What you get

A practical result, not just a conversation.

01

Quality and cost baseline

How well the system performs today, and what each task costs.

02

Evaluation approach

A test set or method to measure quality before and after changes.

03

Monitoring and failure analysis

Where and why the system fails, and how to see it in production.

04

Improvement plan with targets

Changes ranked by expected impact on quality and cost.

How it works

Three stages, agreed up front.

Stage 1

Measure

You and I agree how quality and cost will be measured. I record a baseline.

Stage 2

Diagnose

I trace inputs to outputs to find what drives errors and cost.

Stage 3

Improve

I make and test changes against the baseline.

Common questions

Before you get in touch.

How much does AI quality and cost improvement cost?

The initial assessment is scoped and usually fixed-price. Implementation work is then scoped in stages based on what the assessment finds.

Can you reduce our AI costs without making results worse?

Often, yes, but only if quality is measured first. Without a baseline, cost savings may simply be quality losses that nobody has noticed.

What usually drives high AI costs?

Common causes are using a more expensive model than the task needs, sending too much context, repeated or looping agent calls, and paying twice for the same work because nothing is cached.
