Project viability review

In a Project viability review, I assess whether a proposed AI project or existing pilot is worth building, and what it would take to reach production. You get an independent assessment of value, technical risk and operating cost, with a clear recommendation to build, buy, change direction or stop.

Is this right for you?

Who this is for, and who it isn't.

A good fit if

  • You have an AI idea or pilot and need an honest view before committing more budget
  • A demo looks impressive but you are unsure it will survive real users and real data
  • A supplier has proposed an AI project and you want an independent second opinion

Probably not the right fit if

  • The decision is already made and you need the system built: see Software & AI development
  • You are comparing providers or architectures rather than testing an idea: see Tools and architecture advice
What you get

A practical result, not just a conversation.

01

Feasibility and value assessment

Whether the workflow, data and model capability can deliver the outcome you need.

02

Key technical and operational risks

Data quality, reliability, security, integration effort and the cost of running it at scale.

03

Build, buy or pause recommendation

A clear recommendation with the reasoning and alternatives behind it.

04

Staged next-step plan

If the project should go ahead, the smallest useful next stage and how to measure it.

How it works

Three stages, agreed up front.

Stage 1

Understand the goal

You and I agree the business outcome, users and constraints the project must meet.

Stage 2

Test the idea

I review the workflow, data, prototype or proposal against capability, cost and risk.

Stage 3

Recommend

I discuss the findings with you. You and I agree whether and how to proceed.

Common questions

Before you get in touch.

How much does a Project viability review cost?

Reviews are scoped after a short initial conversation and are usually fixed-price. The price depends on how many tools, projects or systems are in scope and how much information is already available, so you know the cost before work starts.

What if the answer is that we should not build it?

That is a useful result. Stopping or changing direction early is much cheaper than discovering the same problems after launch. The recommendation will explain why and suggest alternatives where they exist.

Why do AI pilots fail to reach production?

Common reasons include inconsistent output quality with no way to measure it, data that is not ready, operating costs that were never estimated, and missing security, monitoring or human review. A working demo does not prove any of these.
